In 1986, Dr. Joseph W. Wilson earned his dental degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. His educational foundation began at Texas A&M University, where he completed his undergraduate work. Following his dental education, Dr. Wilson was selected for an advanced training residency at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Long Beach, further enhancing his clinical expertise. During this advanced training, Dr. Wilson gained expert skills in treating complex crown and bridge cases, performing advanced surgery, administering anesthesia, placing implants, treating gum problems, and helping patients relieve jaw pain.
At the University of Texas, Dr. Wilson learned the newest and best dental techniques. His outstanding work earned him academic and clinical awards for excellence. Following his specialized training, Dr. Wilson shared his knowledge by teaching part-time for 6 years at UCLA Dental School in the Department of Operative Dentistry.
After practicing for 10 years, he obtained a Masters Degree in Psychology focusing on behavioral dynamics that limit one’s life choices. He has used this education to enhance the doctor-patient communication and create a stress-reducing environment to provide dental care. Dr. Wilson has spent more than 20 years practicing in Mission Viejo, building long standing trust with his patients. He specializes in many areas of dentistry including single visit crowns and bridges, dental implant surgery, root canal treatment, prosthetic teeth, and laser-assisted gum treatments.
Dr. Wilson firmly believes that dental health connects to overall health. He focuses on educating his patients about this important link while providing top-quality care. His goal is to help each patient become a happier, healthier version of themselves.
